Director of Research

Erin Sheffels joined SME as a medical writer in December 2020. She received her B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Reed College in Portland, OR in 2014, where she researched telomerase regulation and conducted radiochemistry experiments with the Reed Research Reactor. She received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD in 2020, where her research focused on understanding and inhibiting oncogenic signaling through the RAS pathway. Figuring out how to clearly communicate ideas has always been her favorite part of the research process and she enjoys the chance to learn about new topics with each new project! Outside of work, she loves to dance, hike, and try to keep plants alive.
